If you’re following us on Facebook (and you really, really should be–just search for “Alt Press”), then you’ve glimpsed the inter-cultural amazingness currently displayed on Level 2 at the Main Library.

We’re talking about zines from Japan!

In a first-ever international outreach experiment, we shipped off some of our precious zine collection (via good old snail mail) to Kanda University of International Studies, about an hour east of Tokyo, Japan.

A Work in Progress

We had our second successful Sumi Ink workshop at Sweet branch library last Saturday. Here we present the photographic documentation of our (as yet unnamed) work, in progress:

It was a good time, all ages kind of day, with Michael Jackson on Pandora. Of course we love this sort of thing, but what about YOU, Salt Lake City Public?

Psych! That was our reward for waking up at 6:30 in order to make it to a very early end-of-semester class at the Taylorsville branch of Salt Lake Community College. Where we obtained these:

“But what are these?” you might ask…why, none other than the latest contribution from Kerry Gonzales’s visual arts class, coming soon to our collection!

Their creations fall somewhere between a zine and a scrapbook, but they’re definitely Alternative Press!
