Troop 142

I was a Boy Scout dropout.  And no wonder, how can you expect a gay Jack-Mormon to fit into the rigid ideals of the Boy Scouts?  Some of these ideals include the belief in a christian God, a conservative 1950’s “morality”, & hyper-masculinity, just to name a few.  This can be a lot for a young boy trying to create friendships and battling his way through puberty.  In Troop 142, author Mike Dawson (Freddie & Me, Ace-Face and Gabagool!) explores the image of the Boy Scouts and what its acutally like being one.  The characters are very complex and the story is funny, endearing, shocking and cruel.  I loved it!
