If you are an Instagram user (and really who isn’t these days amirite?) check out these great pics from last night’s Valentine’s Mini-Comic zine workshop courtesy of zinester/alt-girl bonniekayevargacooper.
Every month we pick a local zine from our collection to shine some light on. All zines spotlighted can be found in the SLCPL Zine Collection at the Main Library.
For the month of October we are spotlighting A Thousand False Starts by Robin Banks. This zine is a comic journal documenting events like getting kicked out of a gas station for not spending money, getting hassled by “the pigs” for ghost riding a gift bike, and the little things that make the author happy.
INK SLCC is an AIGA student group that strives to help members get off on the right foot in their design and art careers. We encourage creative and professional growth by providing access to information, resources, advice, critiques, portfolio reviews, activities and an environment to create genuine connections with other visual art students and creative professionals. As the official AIGA student group at SLCC, we are also your direct link to the information and events available to AIGA members.
You can see their work at galleries and art events such as Gallery Stroll, Salt Lake Design Week, and other AIGA events.

Our uber-cool logo for Alt Press Fest 2012 (see above) was designed and created in house by SLCPL graphic designer Nadya Bratt. A native of Barcelona, her work on our logo combined with CPP‘s poster art has been integral to our success this year.
She has described herself thusly:
“Designer, Photographer and undercover Dicktator, binary fishie loves to sketch pretty letters spelling out mean things”
